DAY 1 (Krabi - Lanta Island – Villa
Matahari – Amantra Resort – Laanta lanta festival)
Touching
down Krabi, our designated driver is in front of the arrival hall waiting for
us & ready to bring us to the villa in Koh Lanta Island. It was roughly 1hr30mins plus drive from the
airport to the villa.

Upon arrival
of the villa, we put our bags, get changed & head out to meet a friend at
Amantra Resort.
While 1 of
my friend is off to rent a car, my friends are prepping all the necessary gears
for the next day diving/snorkeling activity. Unfortunately, I’m the one afraid
of water so I decided to stay inside the boat & try my best to look "useful" for the next
day.
Once our
rental car arrives, we went ahead to have our late lunch in “Tuesday
Morning’s” restaurant.

After our
late lunch, we decided to stop by 7-Eleven for snacks & to stock some clean drinking
water for the next few days of our stay there.

Another must have! Thai tuna/ham sandwich! 😋 |
Then after
that we head home to get some rest & wait till evening where we spent our
day at the villa watching the sunset.

Fortunate
for us, "Laanta Lanta Festival" falls on the same day (In between
7/8/9 March of the full moon every year) at the authentic Lanta Old Town.
It was close
to an hour drive to the place but do bear in mind that the roads are not so
developed with no street lamps (So do be careful if you're visiting the Lanta Old
Town at night).
Reaching
there we were welcomed by hanging lanterns above the old buildings with many
street stalls in front of the old buildings filled with clothes/crafts/foods&drinks/street
performances.

Two things
that intrigues me during my visit at the Lanta Old town:
- Their conscious about the environment.Even though it was not fully adhered by the community there, but at the very least they started off with no plastics campaigns there in the hopes to preserve the beautiful island & the sea animals for as long as they are able to.
By doing that, 1 of the stall actually sells metal straws, metal bottles & T-shirts to support the no plastics act. Perks goes to the metal bottles whereby you will have access to any water refilling whenever your bottle is empty at the selected lists restaurants/hotels within the island. - The old school projector that is being use in the 60’s is still up & running entertaining the community there. It’s an open movie space where anyone could just feel free to sit anywhere within the space & enjoy the movie.

DAY 2 (Boat Trip - Drunken Sailors - Why Not Bar)
First thing
in the morning we’re all freshen up at the villa heading out to Amantra Resort
once again to hop on to a boat that will send us to the remote island for
diving/snorkeling activity. We depart from the villa at around 6.30am in the
morning to get to the resort by 7.00am where our both of our other friends who
is also a diving/snorkel sensei is waiting for us there preparing to send us to
the boat.
If you’re
interested in taking on a diving course, Anti Gravity Divers is the one to go
for! They’re very professional & friendly! (url: https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/Attraction_Review-g303905-d1731399-Reviews-Anti_Gravity_Divers-Ko_Lanta_Krabi_Province.html)
Unfortunately
for me, I was unable to overcome the fear of getting into the water let alone
in the middle of the sea, I didn’t do much on that day other that staying at
the boat & trying my best to look "useful" (well for the most part of it). So below
are some of my random shots taken on the boat while everyone is busy
diving/snorkeling.

Some secluded Island |
After the
diving/snorkeling activity, we’re headed off to the nearest convenience store
to get some snacks/drinks/foods before going back to the villa. As for me, the
only drink that I can think of quenching my thirst on the very hot HOT day is the
“Cha Yen” (Thai milk tea).
7-Eleven's Cha Yen |
Back to the
villa, we set all our foods/snacks/drinks beside the swimming pool & started dipping ourselves into the pool. Long story short, thanks to the
encouragement of my friends, I finally overcome my fear of water little by
little in the pool. Just imagine that one of my friend enticing me with free
7-Eleven’s pork burger if I’m able get from 1 end of the pool to the other end
of the pool without the use of the swim ring aka the floating donut (In the end the free
pork burgers are all LIES!!). Didn’t take photo at the pool as I was so
focused on trying not to drown in the pool & also I love my phone.
After
dipping ourselves & rest at the villa, drunken sailor restaurant is our
dinner for the day! The ambiance there is very calm & nice equipped with
hammocks where customers get to sit/lie down & chill while waiting for
their food to be served. The food there is also not bad too!
Then we head
off to a bar place called the “Why Not Bar” for a night chill. Fortunately for
us, we’re greeted by live fire show performance (you just gotta watch till the
end of the show it’s amazing!!) accompanied by live band. Alas, my photo taking
skills are bad so that my pictures are blurry as shit but you can have a look
at this https://www.tripadvisor.com.my/ShowUserReviews-g303905-d4600396-r169547412-Why_Not_Bar-Ko_Lanta_Krabi_Province.html for more interesting photos

Day 2 - End
DAY 3 (Lanta Animal Welfare)
Our initial
plan was to head off to Baan KanTiang restaurant, which is famous for their
authentic Thai cuisine. Unfortunately, we resort to looking at the nearest
place for our lunch as the restaurant was closed on that day. Nevertheless, we
managed to have a decent breakfast/lunch at a restaurant nearby.
If you have
the love for the animals, then you will like The Lanta Animal Welfare. It’s a
non-profit organization that rehabilitate suffering animals on the island
through sterilization & care.
They also
have Kitty City & Kitty Café within the vicinity for you can hang out with
rescued cats while eating or having a refreshing iced tea there.

Nope it's not a plush toy kitty.. It's real & it's not for sale... |
A small tour
within the shelter was also provided by volunteers there to show us around the
facilities. In between the small tour, they also explain each & every one
of the animals there which are up for adoption. It’s a shelter that have a huge
space for the dogs to run around (far better than my dog at home that’s for
sure!)
Unfortunately
for us, we’re unable to bring the dogs out for a stroll at that time as their
schedule to bring the dogs out ranging from 8.30am – 11.00am & 3.00pm – 5.00pm (Planning to do it
the next day but in the end, things didn’t go as planned as I overslept in the
villa hahaha!!).
After that,
we’re all headed out to buy some frozen foods/snacks/drinks at the market/convenience
stores, prepping up all the foods, dip ourselves into the pool once again, BBQ
at night hanging out with friends & playing some little games. Didn’t take photos
as I was enjoying the night with my fellow friends at the villa there offline.
Day 3 - End
DAY 4 (Trip back home)
It was a
final day of the trip. For this day we were pretty laid back & chill. Some went
into the pool some stay in the room, as me & my roommate, both of us
decided to head over to 7-Eleven to gobble up every remaining sandwiches or
burgers that we could find topping it off with a nice “Cha Yen” as our breakfast!!!
Demn we love 7-Eleven so much we kept going there for the past few days to microwave
& gobble up whatever flavor that is in there!! Unfortunately, I don’t seem to
have luck on Tokyo bananas in 7-Eleven even in my previous Krabi trip last year. Most probably is due to the fast expiry
so they don’t bring them into the very small island? **Just guessing**
Breakfast tarpao (takeaway) from 7-Eleven |
I backpack... So i store all my burgers & snacks in here 😂 |
Checking out
from the villa at 12.00pm, we head towards a restaurant for an authentic Thai
cuisine lunch by the seaside. Unfortunately for both me & my friend, the
side effect of gobbling too much on 7-Eleven’s food we were unable to get the
taste of the authentic Thai food there. While waiting for the foods to arrive,
here are some shots taken by the seaside from the restaurant view.
I personally have some love towards vehicles in general, a rare “street cred” styled farm truck, from
the looks of it I'm guessing it’s a 1958 Chevy Apache nearby the restaurant caught
my attention that I cannot stand not taking pictures of it!! Just look at the beauty right there! **Ok maybe it's just me but heck!!**
Before
returning the rental car back to the rental shop, we went to “tarpao (takeaway)”
Pad Thai from “Pad Thai Rock n Roll” restaurant as our dinner at the airport.
Heading
towards the airport, we requested our driver to drop us at the nearby 7-Eleven (Yes...
It’s that place again J) for some last-minute food/drink shopping. Then, we bid our
farewell at Lanta Island to say hi to Krabi Airport.
My last minute shopping @ 7-Eleven |
While
waiting for boarding, I brought my last cup of “Cha Yen” at the Dol Chaang café
to accompany my takeaway Pad Thai. Boy I would say, the Pad Thai still tasted
great even though it has been left in the packet for hours. Guess it will taste even better
when eating it warm on the spot?

That pretty much sums up our trip to Koh Lanta, Thailand. I would say it was a very
peaceful place with friendly people there. Remember the metal bottle I brought
on Day 1? I do get free refills in any restaurants I visited without fail! Well at
least I know I will get hydrated for sure the next time I visit Lanta heheh 😁
Really kudos
to the people there trying their best to take the initiative to educate people
the importance of preserving sea by saying no to plastics. Though it was a
small move from what I see but it's a good start right there.
